Mr. Smith is a civil trial lawyer. He has tried numerous cases to verdict, primarily against insurance companies. He has dedicated his practice largely to representing citizens of Florida with homeowners insurance claims and those who have been killed or injured due to the negligence of others. Mr. Smith has represented homeowners with damages from a number of covered causes, to include but not limited to wind, flood, fire, vandalism, termites and sinkhole.
He has also represented victims of negligence in wrongful death claims, medical malpractice and negligence in motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents, slips, falls and work-related accidents.
As Managing Partner, Mr. Smith’s goal for the firm of Smith & Thompson, P.A. is to aggressively protect Floridians’ rights, level the playing field against large, financially motivated companies, and ensure the very highest level of service to all clients.
Mr. Smith graduated, with honors, from Stetson University College of Law, where he was Articles & Symposia Editor of the Stetson Law Review. He was selected as a member of Order of the Coif and Phi Delta Phi, legal honors fraternity. Before that, Mr. Smith graduated, with honors, from University of North Carolina at Wilmington, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Mr. Smith is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida and all state and federal courts within the State of Florida.
